So… someone asked me if I was going to wake up at 4 am last Friday to watch the #RoyalWedding… “Why don’t you record it? Don’t you have DVR?” they said… by the look in my face they got it… you record “Friends”, maybe “E news”, or “say yes to the dress” but you don’t TiVo the number one fashion event of the decade… you power through it, wake up and watch it… the only way it should be watched live!!!
For me it was beyond the dresses, the glamour, the ceremony and the royal fanfare… I’m all about accessories… and this #RoyalWedding unlike any other wedding in the world brings a unique etiquette rule that makes it unique and tasteful: “Women must wear hats”. For me, as I hope it is for you, accessories have the power to change any look, to transform the most common attire into an iconic statement of fashion… so as much as bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and tiaras, hats have also that power…
I woke up at 4 am, bright (should say dark) and early in the East coast and watched the most amazing (and some not so amazing) hats ever created… Did you see Victoria Beckham with her stylish blue hat? (http://www.stylelist.com/2011/04/29/victoria-beckham-royal-wedding/0 and how about Tara Palmer (http://www.marieclaire.com/fashion/trends/royal-wedding-hats) and Princess Beatrice of York (http://www.marieclaire.com/fashion/trends/royal-wedding-hats) each and every one of these hats added character to their looks… made a statement…
You definitely don’t need a cowboy hat or dress up as a mariachi, not even a Charles Chaplin hard top to be there… but when the Queen of England (who by the way looked amazing at her late 80’s) tells you to wear a hat, you better wear one.. only one person dared not to wear the mandatory hat, Samantha Cameron, and not only it was disrespectful but just wrong… in my book she might as well had wore pjs… in an ocean of beautiful hats she looked bare naked.
Accessories is a must have!!! I didn't miss the Royal wedding and like you watched it LIVE....Great hats!!
