Fashion at the London Olympics

I am very exited about the Olympics; four years seem to be a loooong time for me… But now I’m enjoying the wide array of sports, but most importantly to dissect the fashion on the fields, pools, courts, etc but also at the paddocks, stands and sidelines.

Mainstream famous brands as well as exclusive designers have hefty contracts with entire nations, or at least with specific sports within a country, say gymnastics, synchronized swimming, tennis amongst others.

Rumor has it that Giorgio Armani is said to be designing for the Italian team (can’t wait to see that), and Ralph Laurent will repeat this time with Team USA. Also, well know designer Stella McCartey will dress in fashion the host nation team: Great Britain.

There will be different venues from the opening ceremony with starting flag barriers, the warm ups, the medal event and the closing ceremony. All in fashion and glamour. But how about accessories?  How would you accessorize each team? You can just go with casual attire? Jewelry can make any outfit a fashion statement. So my recommendation will be to accessorize the looks with the following pieces:

Enjoy the Olympics and the fashion that comes with it!

B stands for “Beauty” and “10”

I have always wondered why Sergio Gutierrez, the master mind artist behind the amazing Liquid Metal jewelry named his best seller bracelet B10, “the B10”?

It occurred to me that maybe it was a fixation with WWII aircrafts and powerful bombers; as you know all of them started with a capital letter B, followed by a number depicting size an bombing capacity; yes this bracelet is a bombshell but it wasn’t it.

I then explored if it was as a tribute to the infamous rock-ska-punk-gone commercial group the B-52’s, but after inquiring, that’s definitely not Sergio’s music taste.
I kept playing around with numbering, sequencing, code breaking attempts, but in reality I was probably over-thinking it.

The reality is much simpler than that, just like Sergio: the B stands for Bracelet, and the 10 is the sequencing number as the designs were created.
Some may say it’s boring, so I’m sorry if I spoiled the mystery. Let me make it up to you by offering an alternative ending to the story:

B stands for “Beauty” and “10”, well is just the number of perfection.

So be that perfect 10, and accessorize with Liquid Metal’s B10.

Wimbledon, London, Olympics, Jewelry and Fashion

The countdown has began and the London Summer Olympics are just around the corner; but another historic event its kicking off this week in the same grounds with same flare, glamour and stylish English fashion: Wimbledon, tennis all time favorite tournament. The women’s bracket is an even field, when we talked about the sport itself, but what about the fashion style each one of them brings? On this blog I will try to cover some of the top ranked female tennis players attending Wimbledon and also returning to London in a few weeks for the Olympics, but besides covering their odds of taking home the trophy, I will focus in their unique fashion taste in and off the court, and will do my best to pair them up with suggested accessories providing you ideas on how to also take some of that Wimbledon/London/Olympics vibe home.

Let me get started with my all time favorite Maria Sharapova. I’m so glad she’s back at the top of the list; ranked number one in the world, she is by far not only the best current player, but the most elegant female athlete in and off the court.

Her classy skirts and dresses along with her tall and fit figure make for an astonishing look; for Maria, I will go with Katch Collection’s cuff and earrings pairing; my recommendation will be to accessorize and match her style by wearing the Enchanted cuff along with the matching Posh earrings; just the perfect combination for this Russian superstar.

Number two in the world is Azarenka, from Belarus; this 22 year old superstar is ready for revenge; after taking spot #1 spot last year, she has struggled with the pressure and fall to #2; rumor has it that she is solely focused on Wimbledon’s grass surface in order to regain tennis supremacy.

For her this youngster beauty I suggest pairing up a delicate N15 necklace by Liquid Metal, along with matching bracelet B10 and earrings E16; off-course this is recommended for off the court fashion, but you never know.

And last but not least on my review, Serena Williams; she’s now ranked #6 in the world, but Serena can take on any tournament even if not ranked, and regardless she will make a fashion statement. People may like or dislike her style, but one thing is sure, Serena will take her fashion sense into the court and play as comfortable as if she was not fully accessorized.

And for Serena, I will go flashy, sparkling, fashion statement, not to even chance to go unnoticed. I will go all the way with a wide bracelet from Sergio Gutierrez’ Liquid Metal B11, paired along with symmetric N5 necklace and extra large earrings E31; yes she will be an icon.
Now for you, enjoy Wimbledon, enjoy fashion, good tennis, and be ready for the London Summer Olympics, and don’t forget to accessorize “on and off” the court!

THE PERFECT GIFT FOR MOM

I remember those days when the “perfect gift for mom” was a simple undecipherable drawing to be hang on the freezer, or an imprint of my two small hands submerged on red paint; then it turned into something for the house; either the best washer and dryer set or the best cooking appliance you can find at the store. Those days have changed and even if your mom is the best chef in the world “the perfect gift for mom” is far from house stuff.

Generations have passed and nowadays moms have a different mindset. They love to cook for their families, love spending time with her husband and kids but they also love FASHION and will always be searching for ways to look and feel beautiful.  So now is time to find “the perfect gift for mom” and make her feel the most special mom in the world…. Because she is!

I do have a few suggestions, but before giving you the list I want to tell you the reason why you should go with accessories and not something else. Accessories last forever and when a woman wears an accessory, she will always remember that special person who gave it to her; also no matter if she is wearing the most simple t-shirt and jeans, accessories will transform her look.

You may be thinking what is “the perfect accessory for mom?”. Here are some suggestions that I can assure you that she is going to love.

First, I am going to suggest the beautiful gold earrings and cuffs from Katch jewelry collection. I find this perfect for moms because they are colorful, elegant and sophisticated. Perfect for spring/summer season.

If you want something more edgy I will go with Sergio Gutierrez collection, Liquid Metal. The B10 bracelet is the all time favorite, wore in read carpet by starts such as Annette Benning.

Liquid Metal collection also has a wide variety of earrings and necklaces perfect for mom; what I love about these particular collection is that all the accessories can be wore with jeans and a t-shirt or with the ultimate black dress and they will look great. Perfect for any occasion!

Last, if you feel like going exotic, I want to suggest the jewelry by PajaroLimon. Fresh, earthy, chic and different. Their artisan bracelets, earrings and necklaces will be that perfect accessory that mom will love to have!

So go ahead and accessorize your mom, give her the perfect gift, and make her feel special!

A conversation with a friend, fashion jewelry designer and a trendsetter

Because we love fashion jewelry and we love jewelry designers, we reach out to our friend Kathy Flesh for a brief conversation. She is now part of our exclusive fashion jewelry designers and comes to our boutique with her unique jewelry collection: Exotic. Original. Dazzling. Katch by Kathy Flesch.

We sat down in her Miami home overlooking the ocean; we enjoyed a delicious latte with pastries and talked about accessories, fashion, trends and her future as a jewelry designer; we discovered that with an eye for style and the talent to make a vision into reality, jewelry designer Kathy Flesch creates feminine, fun pieces that are as dynamic as the women who wear them.
Katch collection

So as we brought you new and exclusive designers, we also bring you the stories of the designers who make these pieces a reality. Here’s is our exclusive interview with Kathy Flesh, designer of Katch… Our new designer:

MetalReaction: Kathy, why do you believe that accessories have the power to transform the simplest look into a fashion statement?
Kathy Flesh: Accessories have the power to convert any outfit into something special. You could be wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans, and compliment it with a statement necklace or a cuff, and you will set the difference. This is because people use accessories to express themselves and complete their looks. Accessories can be compared to toppings in a cake. They are the ones that add the final touch.

MetalReaction: Can you describe the Katch Woman? Where is she going? What do you want her to feel? How do you want her to feel?
Kathy Flesh: Women who wear Katch have to love attention, be confident, full of life, modern and versatile. I designed pieces that woman could wear in any occasion; from a cocktail party to a business meeting.

MetalReaction: If you had a chance to be someone other than a jewelry designer, what would you be?
Kathy Flesh: If I had to do something else I would be a fashion designer. I would have my own clothing brand.

MetalReaction: What do you like the most about the latest fashion trends? What do you hate?
Kathy Flesh: I love the new fashion trends: bright colors, metallics, lots of prints and dramatic earrings. I also love 2012’s color, tangerine. I don’t hate anything about this year’s trends. In fashion you have to be very open-minded; that’s what fashion is all about.

MetalReaction: What’s next for Katch? New trends? New markets? New looks?
Kathy Flesh: My plan with Katch is to evolve into a special brand and become a household name. Katch will be full of design and colors. It will continue to expand and eventually be part of more high-end retailers.

MetalReaction: Any advice for new jewelry designers getting started in the fashion industry?
Kathy Flesh: My advice to any jewelry designer is to think out of the box. You have to follow your heart and be perseverant in anything you do. It’s a very competitive industry and you have to set yourself apart.

Kathy uses semi-precious stones and crystals set in rich golden and silver metals to create intriguing contrast. Regardless of which unique piece a woman wears, she’ll be sure to KATCH a compliment.

A Fashion Jewerly Year in Review

Wow, what a wonderful year 2011 was!
It was kicked off with Whites-&-Blacks for the late Winter season… a little boring for my taste but always elegant and chic!
For mother’s day, artisan and tribal jewelry was on hype for trendy fashion-forward but earthy moms; our Pajaro Limon exclusive designer brought in a beautiful collection inspired by the Sahara desert and Africa’s wilderness... so elegant!

The Spring season brought in all the glamour and red carpet flash of Cannes… solids was the theme for dresses, which always allows the accessories to be at the center of all camera lenses.

And for Summer, we submerged in color… got Color? If not, you missed it…  neon, mismatching prints, animal fabrics... Color overflowed catwalks all over the world… and jewelry was not the exception… silver necklaces with colorful stones, beautiful fashion bracelets with bright yet delicate colorful applications were definitely on style. Two of our designers, introduced collections with plenty of color; Lattimo glass jewelry brought in affordable yet classy colorful pieces ranging from earrings through bracelets and beautiful necklaces. Sergio Gutierrez on the other hand, added beautiful stones to its famous best selling Liquid Metal Collection pieces we all learned to love a long time ago.
If this was a year of color, it was also the year of weddings; the royal wedding of William and Kate brought us Hats galore, among many other beautiful accessories; and don’t forget our newly beloved Pippa. Then Alberto of Monaco married Charlene Wittstock from South Africa; another commoner marrying into royalty. And jewelry was definitely invited to the feast!
As summer neared the end, we collected a ton of red carpet fashion pictures from all movie launches and premiers; we saw Katy Perry in smurf-like accessories, Mila Kunis in amazing bracelet matching its beautiful red dress in the “Friends with benefits” premier.
And to wrap up an amazing year in fashion, we followed the latest Sergio Gutierrez collection “Together” along with many other holiday appropriate jewelry designers. They brought master pieces to shine during this season festivities.
As we turn the page on 2011, and begin to look into 2012, we are excited about what’s in the horizon; we can´t wait to share with you the story about our newly signed designer… I can’t share it with you now just yet but I promise this: YOU will LOVE her! She will add glamour, fashion, feminine touches to our galleria of designers and uniquely designed jewelry. She “has a universal appreciation for beauty, so her designs are intended to enhance women from all cultures”. Stay tuned for more, and check our website for updates www.metalreaction.com

But for now, thank you for following my blog; I hope it has brought you interesting fashion tips, some smiles and a relaxing read. Thank you for making 2011 a great year in sales, fashion, jewelry and accessories.

Holiday season…the perfect excuse to accessorize

The Holiday season is upon us… It all begins with Thanksgiving Day… full of turkey and family reunions... then it is followed by Christmas (presents, carrolls, more food) and New Years Eve (more food), full of festivities and parties. I really love this part of the year… but I don’t want to go into details when it comes to all the food and drinks that come with it, I just don’t want to get stressed out before it even begins, I want to talk about the gifts, the fashion and the accessories that come with this beautiful time of the year.

One of the reasons why I love so much this season it’s because I love how cities dress up and accessorize to look accordingly; I love the lights, the decorations and just the feeling and the different air you can breath… Moscow lights are to die for, and New York city becomes a magical sight; Sidney, Los Angeles, Paris... the world is a happier place; presents are exchanged and we all want to do our good deed before the year is over: it’s giving season!!!

The second reason why I love this time of the year it’s because you have so many family and friend reunions that you get to wear amazing fall and winter clothes combined with the best accessories out there.
Starting with all the beautiful scarves, hats, jackets, sweaters and gloves that help you go through the painful cold weather. Layers and layers, chic, elegant, comfortable, and warm.

… and finishing with the traditional yet modern and fashionable bracelets, earrings and necklaces you can wear to make you look incredible and season ready. How about Sergio Gutierrez Liquid Metal fashion bracelet, or chic necklace; or glassy collection by Lattimo?

So before you eat turkey until feeling sick, and before you put up the Christmas tree, before you buy last minute presents for close friends and family, before you get singing Christmas carrolls, or go to the mall to see Santa… before you do all that: Check your closet, check your wardrobe, and ask yourself: are you ready for next year? Do you have what it takes to begin the year shining? Are you wearing the same sweater for the third year in a row to the thanksgiving reunion? Or the same necklace and the same boring bracelet?.

If so, it may be the right time to accessorize, and just like some of the most outstanding cities in the world do, wear the best of your collection, be the center of attraction, the target of all looks, and shine at this holiday reunions at the office with friends and family, wearing amazing jewelry, accessories which can transform your everyday look into an icon: Accessorize!
